A short, technical climb leading to a great viewpoint. An ascent of Pollux can be easily combined with other nearby 4000ers such as the Breithorn and Castor.

PD+ 700 m 5-6 hrs

From either the Kleine Matterhorn lift or the Ayas hut, a glacier approach leads to the foot of the rocky SW Ridge where the technical difficulties begin. Starting easily at first, the ridge then steepens. A series of walls and chimneys are climbed with the aid of fixed chains that lead to the top of the rock barrier. A short snow ridge then leads to the summit.
