Due to it’s proximity to the Alpine Metro above Saas Fee, the Allalinhorn is one of the most accesible 4000ers in Switzerland.

F+ 500 m 3-4 hrs

From the upper station of the alpine metro, a short walk past the summer ski runs gains the glacier proper, where a trail leads up through various crevasses to the Feejoch. Above here, a short slope with some crevasses at the top leads to more steady snow climbing up the broad WNW Ridge and the final summit crest – this is narrow enough to keep the brain working(!) and leads after 50m to the summit cross. The other popular way to climb the peak is via the ENE Ridge – Hohlaubgrat, which is somewhat harder (having a 100m rock step near the top) and more involved, as you need to make an early start after a night at the Britannia hut.
